The New Green Economy

President-Elect Barack Obama’s recent visit to the Cardinal Fastener factory in Bedford Heights, Ohio foretells of what is to come in the new green economy. Cardinal Fasteners is one of the nation’s leading producers of industrial fasteners whose products have been used in both the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge. The company also produces components for wind turbines that will be a major source of renewable energy under Obama’s Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.

As climate change takes center stage as one of the most pressing global issues in history, the race is on to discover new technologies that will radically reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate the pending damages of rising global temperatures.  Some climate change experts believe carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) to be the just the answer.

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) is offering renewable energy developers, homeowners, and small businesses an offer they just can’t refuse.  Through OPA’s Feed-in Tariff Program (FIT), citizens may now get paid to generate their own renewable energy and help reduce their impact on the environment.
